I AM RESPONSIBLE ONLY FOR WHAT I WRITE - NOT FOR WHAT YOU UNDERSTAND

I stumbled upon this quote and was attracted to it with thoughts churning with much interest. This line may come across as somewhat stern to some. But I think that's not the intention whoever wrote it. It's more of real good sense, honesty, and understanding.

To quote:
🍃 "I am responsible only for what I say not for what you understand." - Unknown.🍃

 Unquote.

🍃 'Tis true we never can read a person's mind, no matter how close that person is to us. The mind is a mystery and always will be. So is the heart. So then when I say things or write my thoughts down, I do not expect listeners or readers to see it or understand it the way I may want it understood. Maybe some will and that's such a blessing, appreciate it lots. But some won't or can't or will not. Still good because I respect the differences of our respective histories and nature. People are as different as the wide range of colors of the rainbow. That simply makes it even more interesting. We may be looking at the same thing but you may be seeing apples where I see grapes -- or maybe you see some good where I can see something different, and vice versa. But I am responsible for what I say or write. Because out of the heart the pen writes or the mouth speaks. Everybody is and should....

☘ -- be careful that whatever is said or written would not in any way be detrimental to another person's personal growth or well-being. -- Would not detract from the beauty of his god-given nature and soul. -- Would not diminish his self-worth. -- Would give credit where credit is due. -- Would seek more to understand individual differences and flaws. -- Would not feed his fears, doubts, frustrations, or even bias. -- But would allow for his greater potential and possibilities to shine through and out to the world. -- Better yet to help clear his way or nudge him gently along the path of his life journey, by God's design.

☘ Such is the journey laid out for us all, by divine design. From the heart of my pen to yours... God bless you!💕

WORDS ARE POWERFUL

.
This line from a quote may come across as somewhat stern (medyo taray) to some. But I think that's not the intention. It's more of real good simple truth.

To quote:
"I am responsible only for what I say not for what you understand."    --Unknown.

We never can read a person's mind, no matter how close that person is to us. The mind is a mystery and always will be. So is the heart.
So then when I say things or write my thoughts down, I do not expect listeners or readers to see it or understand it the way I would want it understood. Oh but some do and I consider it such a blessing and appreciate it much. But also some won't or can't or will not. Still good, I respect the differences of our respective histories and nature. People are as different as the wide range of colors in the color spectrum. That makes it even more interesting. We may be looking at the same thing but when you may be seeing flowers I may be seeing its leaves instead -- or maybe you see some good where I can see only utter bad, and vice versa.

But I am responsible for what I say or write. I should be careful that whatever is said or written would not in any way be damaging to another person's personal growth or well-being…..… Would not detract from the beauty of his god-given nature and soul…..… Would not diminish his self-worth…..… Would give credit where credit is due…..… and would not feed his fears, doubts, frustrations, or even bias.

Instead in great measure allow for his greater potential and possibilities to shine through and out to the world…..…. To perhaps help sweep away the cobwebs of his mind and help ease confusion and self-doubt…..…. To help understand the good and the bad that comes with life and living…..…. To help understand human flaws and imperfections and that God’s work in us isn’t finished yet…..…. Better yet to help clear his way or nudge him gently along the path of his own life journey, by God's design.

That's quite a tall order, right? But Mom would simply say to that…... "Better trying than not trying at all.  Remember to be kind.”  Yes, Mom! I hear you loud and clear.

I see it that we all are travel companions regardless of gender, color, culture, ability, talent, education, belief or temperament, creed or personal history. You are my brother or sister - equals in this common journey we call life.

It is a privilege and pleasure to travel this same road with you.

Here’s a wish and prayer that you and your loved ones be blessed with huge portions of blessings from above. God bless you!

FAITH OR FEAR?

--------------------
Somebody out there, I know, is struggling with worries, problems, hurdles, challenges and is close to teetering on the so-called 'edge of the cliff of hopelessness'. Life, as we know it to be, is not all sugar and spice and everything nice. Sometimes it can be bitter and ugly and everything bad.

People react to this in a diversity of ways and means groping, stumbling, falling ... but amazingly rising up again and punching back at life even harder than before. Why? Because people are tough. It's in their DNA.

These make up stories of courage, strength, sacrifice, diligence, responsibility, hard work, sorrow, sadness, fear, hope, disappointment, misery, and the fighting against all odds scenario of life. I know; I have my share. But who doesn't?!

But whatever the things people go through it can never be denied that faith plays a huge role in their lives, be it in a small or great measure.

Faith, too, as many would agree is not easy. It can't be bought, haggled for, blackmailed into, coerced, forced, faked, pushed or pressured.

Faith is ---- your understanding of your God. And your response to that.

Be of good faith. The God you trust can be depended upon.

Have a blessed Sunday, friends!
God bless you.

BEST FIND OUT WHAT HE OR SHE IS LOOKING AT

------------------
I'm sharing with you one of my most treasured quotes.  It's from a book by Hugh Prather....... 'NOTES TO MYSELF'.  It says.....
.
"No one is wrong.  At most someone is uninformed.  If I think an individual is wrong, either I am unaware of something,  or the person is.  Unless I want to play a superiority game I had best find out what he or she is looking at."
.
Unquote.
.
Allow me some thoughts.......
.
Long ago in my blossoming self-righteous youth I would brush this aside as silly because I had this thought in my young silly head that people can be wrong and there can be no explanation to that except that... they are wrong.  But when I was wrong I always pointed to my youth as a ready excuse. Foolish, of course. Ah but the shortsighted folly of youth!
.
As we grow older life proves us wrong on many things we thought we already knew. One lesson drilled into my mind by mother was this.....  'Always get to the story. Behind every individual is a story... his story.'  So whenever I hear someone say something, right or wrong, I would imagine mother shaking her finger at me.... 'Wait for the story.'
.
Yes, she was right ....because life did show me that there is always a story behind every right and every wrong. Opinions, insights, decisions, perceptions and the like are all shaped by experiences contained in a person's personal history.  So when a person presents an opinion but which you think is wrong,  hold judgement.  Find out why or how. That person's history influences his or her thoughts, words, and deeds.... the same way it does yours.  It's possible, too, maybe that person knows something you don't know... or maybe he knows nothing of what you already know.  But definitely he is speaking right off his own life journey and experiences.  You would, too, in your own.
.
Besides nobody has the monopoly of knowledge or wisdom or information. Further we both may not be seeing the same thing in the same way........... you may be seeing trees but I am looking at its fruits. Like a friend had this crush on a good-looking fella, but I found his manner quite abrasive. But when later I found out why, then I finally understood.
.
Seek to be informed. Wait to be informed. With information comes better understanding, compassion, empathy, wisdom.
.
As Prather said.....  '..best find out what he or she is looking at.'

WE NEED PEOPLE WHO UNDERSTAND

'The world is full of people who need someone who understands.'
- Author Unknown

Do you believe that? Well, I do. Because I too need people who understand. I need a person who knows that I am a person and that being a person means that I can be.... adorable, funny, unpredictable, unlikeable at times, grouchy, unhappy, afraid, stupid, sometimes brilliant, and predictably imperfect. And yet even with a hundred-and-one flaws he would understand that those come from a story.....  my life story. Which makes me who I am.

Everybody is a story. We need to understand that. A person is not merely a Jane or a John who each go about their businesses being alive, respectively. There's more to just a pretty face or a brilliant mind.... or a sad face and a weary soul. A person is a product of his or her story. Life story.

Sadly we often fail to understand that. So much easier to heap down judgement or jump to conclusions on things perceived from another person. More often we are found to be wrong and sometimes much too late to do any correction or try even to make amends. The bad already done.

You see, life is not easy to most and to even some a wee much harder than ordinary. Unpopular decisions have to be made in the name of survival. Some stories I hear about sacrifice for another's sake. And other similar stories. Yet when you see them you would think that nothing as huge as a cliff-hanger experience had happened to them at all. You won't see it on their faces. Maybe it's courage or call it something else. But what you see isn't always what you get.

Everybody is a story, has a story. He is a product of that story.... his life story. His story could be sad, lonely, afraid, frustrating, defeating, deprived, desperate, and more. But he keeps on moving forward perhaps hoping for that one big break or that one big dream to come true or that person to make him feel it's alright to be human with flaws-and-all after all.

Let's be more understanding. True understanding teaches us to be kind and kinder. I've read this quote somewhere; it goes something like this ..... "It may be a small thing to you but to someone else it could mean the whole world."

SHED OFF AND ACQUIRED ALL IN THE SAME SPINNING

Early this morning resumed my usual morning walk which was placed on hold throughout the long hot summer. Just about two months (April and May) but it seemed an eternity under the excruciating irritating insufferable heat of the summer sun. This was in fact the hottest summer recorded in the country.

Anyway, as I walked down the usual route round the neighborhood with a light feeling in my step, I noticed that things seemed quiet in the homes I passed by. Perhaps children had already gone to school and husbands off to work. I presumed mothers and wives with the house now quiet turned their attention to household chores. At some point a whiff of yummy breakfast food from a house nearby pranced around my nose and the thought of pancakes and friend eggs pushed me to hurry with the walk so that I could whip up my own breakfast too.

Nothing much seemed to have changed in the neighborhood in the two months I stayed off the paths. But I wasn't really looking hard enough. I was too eager to finish with my walk with the thought of breakfast stuck on my mind that I wasn't really paying attention. Uh-uh not good!

You see, things don't really stay the same. Except for those which need to stay the way they are for a wee bit longer for some reason or another. Change adorns the topography of our lives, living or non-living. Something becomes less or more, will diminish or increase, become fat or thin, taller or shorter, happier or lonelier, births or deaths, something lost or something else gained, and everything else which tells us that the world turns round and round with or without us. And as the world turns and life moves along with it, things get shed off and acquired all in the same spinning.

That said, I think I would be more careful on my next morning walk. This time to steer my eyes to what I should be truly seeing, nudge my mind to understand better the wisdom that has skipped my mind the first time, and tell my heart to lift up a tiny prayer of thanks to a magnificent God who made things the way they are all for my better learning and understanding.

Lovely day to you all.
Blessings!

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION

I heard this exchange from a young couple sitting a table away at my favorite coffee bar at the mall. They appeared to be arguing bout something.

Husband says ‘You don’t get my point’.

Wife retorts ‘You’re not listening to what I’m trying to tell you, this is how it should be done’.

This time the temptation is great to write about marriage and couples and how the twain never meets ever -- Except for some. But we won’t go there because somebody else somewhere is better at it than me.

When a person says ‘you don’t get my point’ – it’s true. And when the other replies that ‘you don’t see what I’m trying to tell you’ --- that too is true. Both are so much the same and yet so much different too. Maybe that would be considered weird or foolish. But fact is, both are simply stating the same simple fact and truth only from two opposing views.

You see the world according to you. I see it according to me. We come from different backgrounds, upbringing, experience, and learning. We separately perceive the world according to how we each understand it in the way we each have learned or been taught to do. You have formed your own perception, insight and opinion on most anything referring to people, theories, events, life, and living. Consequently you judge, censure, evaluate, condemn, appraise from your own individual standpoint.

So do I. I am everything that you are, been there in the travel from nothingness to something, was shaped and molded by my own growing and learning which has formed the character, personality, and attitude you perceive in me now. In our differences we still are basically the same. And that is true.

Yet we need not argue or fight over who is right or wrong, better or worse, smarter or stupid, brilliant or foolish. What is correct is when we can listen to each other in spite of our differing opinions. What is right is when we can look at each other with true understanding and respect. What is beautiful is when we can agree to disagree and be happy with that. And that brings us to a genuine unadulterated authentic communication.

"To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others." -- Tony Robbins
