When I was asked about success, I smiled. Because if I were younger I would say a flashy car, a mansion, a bank account, travels round the world, a title, gourmet dishes, fancy clothes etc. But now that am older and have seen much bout life... I can say that those things don't matter much altho yes it has its uses. Success is when everything around you goes crazy but you stand steady and tall, serene and unperturbed and say: "this too shall pass". Because you know that nothing ever lasts and that the true measure of success is not on externalities -- but in your core... who you are and Who your Power Source is.
Beautifully expressed!

Inspiring post...yeah, success is measured in various ways and thus reflects one's personality.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I wish I am younger and would have taken a different path to success but as of now I am contented with what I have and I still have dreams to pursue which may add to my measure of success...:-)
Thanks for sharing Ellen, God bless!
rightly said...as we age...we realise the things that are important and in what ways....
ReplyDeleteand I liked this sentences a lot - Success is when everything around you goes crazy but you stand steady and tall, serene and unperturbed and say: "this too shall pass". good day
Success is sweetest when we can put the smile on our loved ones' faces! Like you said, our definitions of it might have changed over the years...and it just shows how we evolve from self-centred to selfless, when we begin to realize that life is not just about material things, it is about love and happiness - for us and everyone around us.
ReplyDeleteWhat precious gifts that is - contentment -- dreams >> "..as of now I am contented with what I have and I still have dreams to pursue which may add to my measure of success...:-)" God bless you!
ReplyDeleteYes indeed, Lakshmi - "...as we age...we realise the things that are important and in what ways...." Lucky would be our youth if this be understood well while young. Blessings to you!

Those temporal things of course play a part in our lives as they satisfy a need or some other reason. But it shouldn't be the focal point of our existence -- neglecting what is truly essential. You know what I mean, Jigyasa. :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you again, my friend. Been a long while. Hope that everything is fine at your end. God bless!!
