A LIFE TO THE FULLEST

Why do we chain themselves to old worn mind sets, of severe thoughts that serve only to cramp our style and enjoyment of a full life. And you may ask 'what is meant by a full life?'

-- Simple. It only means that we see and acknowledge our blessings, recognize its Giver, realize our God-given spark, know and still like who we are and where we are at. Because as difficult as that may sound, that's what God intended our life to be. May not be a perfect life but it's ours. We and all that we stand for is the vehicle by which we grow, learn and become the person God meant us to be. That's what we're supposed to do. And it's there so that we may live life to the fullest.

  1. Hi Elen,
"Why do we chain themselves to old worn mind sets, of severe thoughts that serve only to cramp our style and enjoyment of a full life."

I have often thought this but haven't been able to get rid of thoughts about bad old experiences that cause bitterness and anger. I think the ability to shun them is a great one but I don't seem to have that.

When you say circumstances shape us in a way that God had willed us to become, do you mean destiny? I sort of believe in that....I like to think that we are always getting somewhere.

  2. Nice to see you, Indra!
    Thanks for dropping by. :-)

Another friend shares the same sentiment and added that she finds it hard to 'let go'. Even if she knows that it's eating her up and creates barriers that hinder movement and progress. To try to 'shun them' as you say is quite futile, I believe, cos it won't leave until you give good reason for it to leave. That reason is in trying to understand your feelings towards it. When this understanding is fully achieved, the 'bad old experiences that cause bitterness and anger' become quite manageable or sometimes it goes away and disappears into the wall. It loses its capacity to hurt you...it loses its sting :-)

What I think is that it's not about circumstances. Rather it's about awareness, self-knowledge, and believing in self and of a higher Being that holds our life in his hands. It's not the circumstances perse but our response to it that shapes us. God will send us the tools but we are expected to work it. Working it is our job and by doing so it transforms - changes - develops - evolves the self... making us better. Better versions of our old selves'. We are led to respond to that challenge, to opportunities, to creating our miracles, to expanding our appreciation of our world, to reconnecting with the rest of the human race with fresh eyes and heart. And whatever name others may call it, I think it is simply --- living life to the fullest. And certainly that always gets us somewhere.

Take care, Indra.. and God bless you.
