WHAT A DOG AND A CAT CAN DO TO YOUR IMPORTANCE

"In order to keep a true perspective of one's importance, everyone should have a dog that will worship him and a cat that will ignore him." -- Unknown

Love that quote. I go back to it every time my human impulse is to revel in vanity or ego. Oh yes, we all do that secretly or blatantly. Humanly natural. But it can become quite annoying when we take it so seriously. Otherwise it simply comes and goes.... just like a good pat on the shoulder for a job well done.

We are important only as we see that importance from the perspective of doing what is expected of us as intelligent creatures above our four-legged brothers. And essentially important as we are able to see ourselves as God sees us. Can't fool the Big Guy upstairs.

My pet dog Maxie adores me and I revel in her adoration and adulation... I'm important to her. I'm great to her world.

My cat Miko is the exact opposite... I could go walk by him in all of my human splendor and importance and he would just sleep through that experience. Yawns at my face sometimes.

Maxie sends me off to cloud 9; Miko puts me back on the ground.

Importance -- it's not the be-all and end-all of everything nor of you. That is all that we need to know about that word.

"Hahaha. How humourously you have annotated that quote.I liked two sentences."Can't fool the Big Guy upstairs" and "Maxie sends me off to cloud 9; Miko puts me back on the ground." They sum up the message beautifully. Thanks"

Thank you, KP. Glad that enjoyed the post.
Blessings to you, my good friend.

  7. Hi Sie and WELCOME! Oh I can understand how your mother felt when your dog died. Used to have seven dogs in our garage; now it's down to three... plus one cat. It is sad to lose pets who have been part of family and our lives. Nothing can fill the void they leave behind. Of course we can always get another pet but it won't be the same. Each dog or pet is unique and different.. just like the way people are from each other.

Thank you for dropping by and for your lovely message. It's appreciated. :-) May God bless you and your family.

  8. i love the quote:) and it is so true indeed. I love both cats as well as dogs. sadly my mom does not allow me to keep pets in the house as she feels that the loss of a pet is like loosing someone from the family and she does not want that. i cant really argue about that with her as i too agree with her on that point.
but luckily there are around three cats outside my place of work and i love all of them, specially one tom cat:P but yeah, cats don't really give a damn about you. They will meow their hearts out when they're hungry and get you to get them food. But when they see you otherwise, they will not wag their tails like the dogs.
The points you make are really pertinent and am in complete agreement with you:) thanks once again for that lovely quote:)
    take care
